Champagne-Colour Dial

A refined watchmaking technique

This dial is enhanced with diamonds set in 18 ct gold, adding a touch of elegance and refined brilliance. The sunray finish creates delicate light reflections, a signature detail seen across many Oyster Perpetual dials.

It is achieved through precise brushing techniques that form fine grooves radiating outward from the centre of the dial. These engravings allow light to spread evenly across the surface, producing a soft, sophisticated glow that subtly shifts with wrist movement.

Once the sunray texture is complete, the dial colour is applied using advanced methods such as Physical Vapour Deposition or electroplating. A final protective layer of varnish is then added, giving the dial its depth, richness, and polished finish.

Fluted Bezel

A signature Rolex detail

The fluted bezel is a distinctive feature of Rolex design, symbolizing precision and timeless elegance. Originally, its fluting served a functional role—it allowed the bezel to be securely screwed onto the case, helping to ensure the watch’s waterproof structure.

This design was mirrored on the case back, which was also tightly fastened using specialized Rolex tools to guarantee complete sealing and protection.

Over time, this practical element evolved into a signature aesthetic feature. Today, the fluted bezel stands as a mark of Rolex identity and refinement, crafted in gold on the Datejust 31 as a symbol of enduring distinction.
