This design was mirrored on the fluted case back, which was also tightly fastened using specialized Rolex tools to create a secure seal. Over time, this practical engineering detail evolved into a defining aesthetic feature and a hallmark of Rolex identity.

Today, the fluted bezel stands as a mark of distinction. Crafted in gold on the Datejust 31, it enhances the watch with a refined touch of luxury while preserving its timeless and iconic design language.

Mint Green Dial

A Refined Watchmaking Technique

The mint green dial features an elegant sunray finish that creates soft, refined light reflections across its surface. This effect is achieved through precise brushing techniques that form fine grooves radiating outward from the center of the dial.

As light interacts with these engravings, it is evenly diffused, producing a subtle glow that shifts with wrist movement and enhances the dial’s depth and visual refinement.

Once the sunray finish is complete, the dial colour is applied using advanced methods such as Physical Vapour Deposition or electroplating. A final protective layer of varnish is then added, ensuring durability while giving the dial its smooth, polished appearance.
