Olive-Green Dial

A refined watchmaking technique

This dial is enhanced with diamonds set in 18 ct gold, adding a touch of elegance and refined brilliance. The sunray finish creates delicate light reflections, a signature feature of many Oyster Perpetual dials.

It is achieved through precise brushing techniques that form fine grooves radiating outward from the centre of the dial. These engravings allow light to spread evenly across the surface, producing a soft, sophisticated glow that subtly shifts with wrist movement.

Once the sunray texture is complete, the dial colour is applied using advanced techniques such as Physical Vapour Deposition or electroplating. A final protective layer of varnish is then added, giving the dial its depth, richness, and polished finish.

The fluted bezel is one of the most distinctive elements of Rolex design, representing elegance and precision. Originally, its fluting served a functional purpose—it helped screw the bezel securely onto the case, contributing to the watch’s waterproof construction.

This detail matched the case back, which was also tightly secured using specialized Rolex tools to ensure optimal sealing and protection.

Over time, this practical feature evolved into a defining aesthetic signature. Today, the fluted bezel stands as a mark of Rolex identity and refinement, crafted in gold on the Datejust 31 as a symbol of timeless distinction.
