A refined watchmaking technique

This silver dial showcases diamond hour markers set in 18 ct gold settings, highlighting Rolex’s attention to detail and craftsmanship. The signature sunray finish enhances the surface with elegant light reflections, commonly seen across the Oyster Perpetual collection.

The effect is achieved through precise brushing techniques that create fine grooves radiating outward from the centre of the dial. These lines gently diffuse light across the surface, producing a soft, shifting glow that changes with the movement of the wrist.

After the sunray pattern is completed, the dial receives its colour treatment through advanced Physical Vapour Deposition (PVD) or electroplating methods. A final protective varnish is then applied, sealing the finish and delivering a smooth, polished appearance with lasting brilliance.

Each diamond is set by highly skilled gem-setters who carefully shape precious metal to create a precise seat for every stone. Like master craftsmen, they position each gem individually, ensuring perfect placement, alignment, and secure setting within gold or platinum.
