A refined watchmaking technique

The Slate dial showcases refined craftsmanship, featuring a large Roman numeral VI set with 11 diamonds for a touch of elegant brilliance. Its sunray finish produces subtle and sophisticated light reflections, enhancing the overall aesthetic of the Oyster Perpetual collection.

This effect is achieved through precise brushing techniques that create fine grooves radiating outward from the centre of the dial. These engravings diffuse light evenly across the surface, producing a soft glow that shifts beautifully with wrist movement.

Once the sunray texture is complete, the dial colour is applied using advanced methods such as Physical Vapour Deposition or electroplating. A final protective layer of varnish is then added, giving the dial its depth, clarity, and polished finish.

The diamond-set bezel reflects the refined craftsmanship of Rolex gem-setting, where precision and artistry come together. Skilled gem-setters carefully sculpt the precious metal to create perfectly shaped seats for each gemstone, ensuring every diamond fits with absolute accuracy.

Each stone is then individually placed, aligned, and securely set in gold or platinum with expert care, following the traditions of fine jewellery making. The process requires exceptional attention to detail to achieve perfect harmony across the entire bezel.
