Olive-Green Dial

A refined watchmaking technique

This dial showcases Roman numerals VI and IX in 18 ct gold, set with 24 diamonds for a refined aesthetic. Its sunray finish is created through precise brushing that radiates from the centre of the dial, forming fine grooves that interact with light.

The result is a soft, shifting glow across the surface as the wrist moves. The colour is then applied using Physical Vapour Deposition or electroplating, followed by a protective varnish that completes the dial’s elegant appearance.

Fluted Bezel

A Rolex signature of distinction

The fluted bezel was originally designed with a functional role—to screw the bezel onto the case and help ensure water resistance. Its fluting matched the case back, both secured using specialized Rolex tools for waterproofing.

Over time, this technical detail evolved into a signature aesthetic feature. Today, the fluted bezel—crafted in gold on the Datejust 36—stands as a symbol of Rolex design identity and refinement.
