Refined Watchmaking Technique

The pink dial is enhanced with Roman numerals VI and IX in 18 ct gold, set with 24 diamonds for a refined and elegant touch. It features Rolex’s signature sunray finish, a sophisticated technique used across the Oyster Perpetual collection to create a dynamic play of light.

This effect is achieved through precise brushing methods that form fine grooves radiating outward from the center of the dial. These delicate lines diffuse light evenly, producing a soft, radiant glow that subtly shifts with wrist movement.

Once the sunray pattern is complete, the dial color is applied using advanced processes such as Physical Vapour Deposition (PVD) or electroplating. A final protective layer of varnish is then added, ensuring a smooth, polished, and durable finish.

Fluted Bezel

A Signature of Rolex Distinction

The fluted bezel is one of Rolex’s most recognizable design elements, symbolizing elegance and heritage. Originally, the fluting on the Oyster bezel served a functional purpose, allowing it to be securely screwed onto the case to help ensure the watch’s waterproofness.

This same design was mirrored on the case back, which was also tightly fastened using specialized Rolex tools to guarantee a secure seal.

Over time, this practical feature evolved into a defining aesthetic detail. Today, the fluted bezel stands as a mark of distinction, crafted in gold on the Datejust 36 and reflecting Rolex’s timeless craftsmanship and design excellence.
