Originally, the fluting on the Oyster bezel served a functional purpose, allowing it to be securely screwed onto the case to help ensure the watch’s waterproof performance.

This design was mirrored on the fluted case back, which was also tightly fastened using specialized Rolex tools to create a secure seal. Over time, this practical engineering detail evolved into a defining aesthetic feature and a hallmark of Rolex identity.

Today, the fluted bezel stands as a symbol of distinction. Crafted in gold on the Datejust 41, it enhances the watch with a refined touch of luxury while preserving its timeless and iconic design language.

White Dial

A Refined Expression of Lacquer Craftsmanship

The white dial reflects a clean and timeless aesthetic achieved through advanced lacquering techniques that deliver exceptional depth, purity, and a flawless smooth finish. Lacquer provides almost limitless freedom of colour while ensuring a rich and uniform surface.

The process begins with the careful application of six ultra-thin layers of lacquer onto a brass base plate, each layer precisely built up to create a perfectly even foundation.

A transparent protective varnish is then added to enhance depth, brilliance, and shine. Once fully dried, the surface is meticulously polished to intensify its clarity and smoothness, preparing the dial for final detailing such as pad printing and the application of hour markers.
