Fluted Bezel

A Rolex Signature of Distinction

The fluted bezel is one of Rolex’s most iconic design elements, instantly recognizable and rich in heritage. Originally, the grooves on the Oyster bezel served a functional purpose: they allowed the bezel to be securely screwed onto the case, helping maintain the watch’s waterproof integrity.

This design mirrored the fluting on the screw-down case back, both crafted with precision using specialized Rolex tools. Over time, the fluted bezel evolved into a hallmark of elegance and style. On the Day-Date 40, the gold fluted bezel stands as a symbol of craftsmanship, refinement, and timeless distinction.

White Dial

Depth, Color, and Craftsmanship

The white dial showcases a luxurious lacquer finish, offering both rich color and a perfectly smooth surface. This effect is achieved by carefully applying six successive thin layers of lacquer onto a brass base, building depth and intensity with each layer.

A transparent varnish is then added to enhance the shade and provide lasting shine. Once dried, the surface is polished to amplify the luminosity, after which the dial is ready for pad printing and the precise application of markers, creating a refined and elegant finish.
