The black dial of the Oyster Perpetual is created through a meticulous process that blends traditional craftsmanship with advanced technology. The rich colour begins as a liquid lacquer, carefully applied in a controlled environment to prevent dust or impurities from affecting the finish.

The brass base of the dial is coated with multiple layers of lacquer — six in total — to achieve a perfectly smooth and uniform surface. It is then varnished and polished to reveal exceptional depth and brilliance. Finally, the inscriptions are pad printed, while the hour markers and crown are riveted by hand. The result is a flawless dial, ready to crown the movement during the final assembly of the watch.
