The colours of the Oyster Perpetual range begin as finely applied lacquer in a controlled-atmosphere environment to prevent dust and contamination.

The brass dial base is coated with six layers of lacquer to create a smooth, uniform surface. Finally, it is varnished and polished to reveal full brilliance and depth. Inscriptions are pad printed, and hour markers and the crown are riveted by hand. Gleaming in perfection, the dial is ready to be mounted atop the movement during assembly.
