Aubergine Dial

A refined watchmaking technique

This dial is set with diamonds in 18 ct gold settings, adding a luxurious and elegant touch. The sunray finish enhances the surface with delicate light reflections, a signature detail seen across many Oyster Perpetual dials.

The effect is achieved through expert brushing techniques that create fine grooves radiating outward from the center of the dial. These precise engravings allow light to spread evenly, producing a soft glow that subtly changes with the movement of the wrist.

Once the sunray finish is completed, the aubergine color is carefully applied using advanced methods such as Physical Vapour Deposition (PVD) or electroplating. Finally, a light protective layer of varnish is added to complete the dial, giving it a smooth and refined finish.

Fluted Bezel

A distinctive Rolex signature

The fluted bezel is one of the most recognizable Rolex design elements, representing tradition and fine craftsmanship. Originally, the fluting on the Oyster bezel served a practical purpose—it allowed the bezel to be securely screwed onto the case, helping maintain the watch’s water resistance.

This design mirrored the fluting on the case back, which was also tightly fixed to the case using specialized Rolex tools to ensure proper sealing and durability.

Over time, this functional feature evolved into a distinctive aesthetic signature, becoming an iconic element of Rolex watch design.

Today, the fluted bezel stands as a mark of distinction, crafted in gold on the Lady-Datejust, adding elegance, character, and timeless appeal.
