In its original form, the fluting on the Oyster bezel had a practical function—it helped secure the bezel tightly onto the case, contributing to the watch’s water resistance.

This design was closely related to the fluting on the case back, which was also screwed down using specialized Rolex tools to ensure complete sealing of the watch case. Over time, this functional detail gradually evolved into a purely aesthetic feature.

Today, the fluted bezel has become a signature Rolex style code, especially when crafted in gold on the Lady-Datejust, where it enhances the watch with elegance, character, and timeless appeal.

Rosé-Colour Dial

A refined expression of watchmaking craftsmanship

The sunray finish on this dial creates soft, elegant light reflections that enhance the beauty of the Oyster Perpetual collection. It is achieved through expert brushing techniques that form fine grooves radiating outward from the center of the dial.

These delicate engravings allow light to spread evenly across the surface, producing a subtle, shifting glow that changes naturally with the movement of the wrist. Once the sunray effect is complete, the rosé colour is carefully applied using advanced techniques such as Physical Vapour Deposition (PVD) or electroplating.

To complete the process, a thin protective layer of varnish is added, giving the dial its smooth, polished finish and lasting visual depth.
